Highmark Blue Shield contracts with Jefferson Health in Southeast Pennsylvania

PHILADELPHIA (August 3, 2023) – Highmark Blue Shield today announced that Jefferson Health has entered into a Pennsylvania Insurance Department and the Pennsylvania Department of Health approved in-network provider contract with Highmark Inc. on behalf of itself and its affiliate health plans.

Made up of 17 hospitals and more than 42,000 employees, Jefferson Health is the largest health system in the Philadelphia region by total licensed beds. The robust network of hospitals and physician practices serves patients in Bucks, Camden, Gloucester, Montgomery, and Philadelphia counties.

Jefferson Health joins Temple Health, Penn Medicine, Doylestown Health’s Doylestown Hospital,  Grand View Health’s Grand View Hospital and Crozer Health as additional health systems that have entered into an agreement with Highmark Inc. in southeastern Pennsylvania.

Jefferson Health has over 50 outpatient and urgent care locations, 4,615 credentialed physicians, and 9,300 nurses. The health system is also recognized for their major teaching facilities, offering clinical experiences including residency programs, local medical schools, and fellowship programs.
