Highmark Delaware announces first quarter BluePrints for the Community grant recipients

Wilmington, Del. (March 29, 2022) – Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield Delaware is pleased to share its first quarter BluePrints for the Community grant awardees, which will collectively receive more than $1.3 million funding. BluePrints for the Community contributed more than $6.8 million in 2021 and has committed over $22 million to Delaware nonprofits since its inception in 2007.

Keystone Human Services will receive funding to support in-home telehealth and rapid access care for patients with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities. Boys and Girls Clubs of Delaware received a grant to provide programming focused on mental health, trauma informed care and overall wellness for youth. Good Neighbors will receive support to provide low-cost home repairs for those aging in place.

Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield Delaware is also pleased to partner with the Delaware Medical Education Foundation (DMEF), which supports the improvement and expansion of education programs for Delaware physicians. BluePrints for the Community will be making a long-term investment to support their Primary Care Investment Initiative to help independent primary care practices prepare for sustainable success in value-based care.

“Even before the pandemic, the shortage in the health care workforce and the challenges related to training and retention were of concern,” said Nick Moriello, President of Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield Delaware. “We are excited to work alongside the DMEF to help our primary care colleagues to ensure the best health outcomes for Delaware.

BluePrints for the Community supports project and programs throughout Delaware that improve health outcomes. Applications are accepted on a quarterly basis at www.delcf.org/grants. All Delaware 501c3 organizations are eligible to submit proposals that address social determinants of health, increase access to health care for the uninsured/underserved, reduce health disparities in minority communities, support early childhood health, or recruit/train health care professionals.
