Camp Good Days & Special Times Named Highmark Community Hero at Oct. 1 Game
Buffalo, N.Y. (October 1, 2023) — Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield and the Buffalo Bills will celebrate Camp Good Days and Special Times as the Highmark Community Hero for the Oct. 1 game vs. the Miami Dolphins.
Founded in 1979, Camp Good Days has served more than 50,000 campers from 22 states and 36 foreign countries, providing support and year-round activities that improve the quality of life of families affected by cancer or sickle cell anemia.
Gary Mervis founded the organization after his daughter, Elizabeth "Teddi" Mervis, was diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor at the age of nine. The organization was developed with hopes to provide her and other children with cancer, opportunities to connect with others who understood what they were going through. Over the years, Camp Good Days has become one of the largest organizations of its kind with many of the programs and services started there being used as models for other cancer treatment centers and organizations around the world.
As a Highmark Community Hero, Camp Good Days and Special Times is receiving a $2,500 donation from Highmark in addition to being recognized at the Oct. 1 game.
