The Highmark Caring Place, a center for grieving children, adolescents and their Families, is a safe place where grieving children and families can come together and be with others who understand what they’re going through.
During the 1990s, we identified a need in the community that wasn't being met — that of grieving children and their families. In 1996, the first groups of grieving children and families were offered peer support services through what would become known as the Highmark Caring Place, A Center for Grieving Children, Adolescents and Their Families.
Today, the Highmark Caring Place helps children and their families cope with the death of a parent or loved one at four Pennsylvania locations — Pittsburgh, Erie, Warrendale and Harrisburg. These programs and services are provided at no cost to the families in the communities we serve.
